Abraham (Originally Abram)

The founding patriarch of Israel, the Hebrews, and the Arab nations, chosen by God to be the father of a multitude of nations through a covenant.

Originally from Ur of the Chaldeans, God called Abram to leave his homeland and go to Canaan. God made a covenant with him, promising land, seed as numerous as the stars, and blessings to all nations through him. Despite being initially childless and old, he believed God. He had a son, Ishmael, with Hagar, and later a son, Isaac, with Sarah at age 100. His faith was tested when God asked him to sacrifice Isaac, a command he obeyed until God stopped him. He is revered as the "Father of the Faithful" .
