Overview
Shalim was a district in the territory of Benjamin through which King Saul traveled during his search for his father's lost donkeys. Though mentioned only briefly, this location serves as part of the historical record of how God sovereignly guided Saul's steps toward his divine appointment as Israel's first king.
Key Scriptures
"Then Saul said to his servant, 'Come, let us go back, lest my father stop caring about the donkeys and become anxious about us.' And he said to him, 'Behold, there is a man of God in this city, and he is a man held in honor; all that he says comes true. Now let us go there. Perhaps he can tell us the way we should go.' Then Saul said to his servant, 'But if we go, what can we bring the man? For the bread in our sacks is gone, and there is no present to bring to the man of God. What do we have?'" (1 Samuel 9:5-7, ESV)
Application
Reflect on how God often guides us through ordinary circumstances and seemingly small decisions, working behind the scenes to accomplish His sovereign purposes in our lives.
