Overview
In Luke 10, Jesus appointed seventy disciples and sent them out in pairs to preach the kingdom of God and heal the sick. This mission emphasizes that gospel work extends beyond the apostles to all believers, with Jesus sending laborers into His harvest. The seventy were instructed to rely on God's provision, avoid distraction, and proclaim that God's kingdom had come near.
Key Scriptures
"After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go" (Luke 10:1, ESV).
"The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest" (Luke 10:2, ESV).
