Overview
Seirath was a quarry region located near Gilgal in the hill country of Ephraim. It served as the escape route for the judge Ehud after he executed King Eglon of Moab, delivering Israel from eighteen years of Moabite oppression.
Key Scriptures
"When he arrived, he blew a trumpet in the hill country of Ephraim, and the Israelites went down with him from the hills, with him leading them. He said to them, 'Follow me, for the Lord has given Moab, your enemy, into your hands.' So they went down after him and took possession of the fords of the Jordan that led to Moab; they allowed no one to cross over." (Judges 3:27, NIV)
"But Ehud had escaped while the servants waited. He passed by the idols and escaped to Seirah." (Judges 3:26, NASB)
Application
Seirath reminds believers that God provides means of escape and deliverance for His people, and that even seemingly impossible situations can result in God's victory when His servants act in faith.
