Zer

Zer was a fortified city in the territory of Naphtali during the time of Joshua's conquest and settlement of Canaan.

Overview

Zer was one of the fortified cities allocated to the tribe of Naphtali when Joshua divided the Promised Land among the Israelites. Located in northern Canaan, this city represented one of many strategic settlements that the Israelites established as they took possession of the land God had promised to Abraham and his descendants.

Key Scriptures

"The fortified cities were Ziddim, Zer, Hammath, Rakkath, Kinnereth" (Joshua 19:35, ESV). This verse lists Zer among the fortified cities given to Naphtali as their inheritance. The allocation of these cities to the tribes demonstrated God's faithful provision and the organized distribution of the Promised Land according to His divine plan.

Application

Christians can trust that God provides and establishes us in secure positions when we follow His direction, just as He established the Israelites in the fortified cities of Canaan.
