Overview
Ruhamah is a symbolic name given by the prophet Hosea to represent God's merciful restoration of Israel. After pronouncing judgment through the name Lo-Ruhamah ('not pitied'), God promises to reverse this judgment and extend compassion to His people, demonstrating that His mercy ultimately triumphs over His wrath.
Key Scriptures
"Say to your brothers, 'My people,' and to your sisters, 'She has obtained mercy' [Ruhamah]" (Hosea 2:1, ESV).
"And I will have mercy on No Mercy [Lo-Ruhamah], and I will say to Not My People, 'You are my people'; and he shall say, 'You are my God'" (Hosea 2:23, ESV).
