Overview
Rogelim was a settlement in Gilead, east of the Jordan River, whose most notable resident was Barzillai, a wealthy and godly man. When King David fled Jerusalem during Absalom's revolt, Barzillai demonstrated remarkable loyalty by providing provisions and support to the king and his followers in their time of crisis.
Key Scriptures
"Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim to cross the Jordan with the king, to send him on his way from there" (2 Samuel 19:31, ESV). "And Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim and went on to the Jordan with the king to escort him on his way" (2 Samuel 17:27, NASB).
Application
Barzillai's example from Rogelim challenges believers to demonstrate faithful, sacrificial support for God's leaders during times of difficulty, regardless of personal cost.
