Robe

Robes in Scripture symbolize authority, righteousness, and honor, from priestly garments to the white robes of the redeemed in heaven. They represent both our need for Christ's righteousness and our future glorification.

Overview

Throughout Scripture, robes carry spiritual significance. Priests wore robes as symbols of their holy office and God's presence. Robes also represent righteousness and salvation—the garments of the justified believer. In Revelation, the redeemed wear white robes, symbolizing their perfection in Christ and readiness for eternal communion with God.

Key Scriptures

"Let your priests, O LORD God, be clothed with salvation, and let your saints rejoice in your goodness" (2 Chronicles 6:41, ESV).

"I will greatly rejoice in the LORD; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness" (Isaiah 61:10, ESV).

"Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to rest a little longer" (Revelation 6:11, ESV).

"After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes" (Revelation 7:9, ESV).

Application

Meditate on how Christ's righteousness covers you completely, preparing you for eternal worship before God's throne.
