Overview
God commanded the Israelites to attach ribbands (tassels) to the corners of their garments as a perpetual sign of their covenant obligation to follow His laws. These visible reminders were designed to prompt obedience and demonstrate separation unto the Lord, distinguishing His people from surrounding nations.
Key Scriptures
"Speak to the children of Israel: Tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a blue thread in the tassel of each corner. And it shall be to you a tassel that you may look upon and remember all the commandments of the LORD and do them" (Numbers 15:38-39, NKJV).
"Therefore you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontals between your eyes" (Deuteronomy 11:18, NKJV).
Application
Just as the Israelites used physical reminders to remember God's Word, believers today should similarly establish practices—such as Scripture reading, prayer notes, or visible symbols—that keep God's commandments continuously before their minds.
