Overview
Pisidia was a mountainous region in south-central Asia Minor that Paul visited during his first missionary journey around 47-48 AD. The main city mentioned in Scripture is Antioch of Pisidia, where Paul preached in the synagogue with powerful effect. His time there illustrates how the gospel spread from Jerusalem to the Gentile world through faithful proclamation of God's Word.
Key Scriptures
"When they came to Antioch in Pisidia, on the Sabbath day they went into the synagogue and sat down" (Acts 13:14, ESV). "And from there they sailed to Antioch, from which they had been commended to the grace of God for the work that they had fulfilled" (Acts 14:26, ESV). "So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and they increased in numbers daily" (Acts 16:5, ESV).
Application
Believers today can follow Paul's example of boldly sharing the gospel in their communities, trusting that God's Word will accomplish His purposes regardless of opposition.
