Pedahel

Pedahel was a prince of the tribe of Naphtali appointed by God to help divide the land of Canaan among the Israelites. He served alongside other tribal leaders in executing God's plan for distributing the promised inheritance.

Overview

Pedahel, whose name means "God redeems" or "God delivers," was a leader chosen from the tribe of Naphtali to participate in the division of Canaan. He worked under the direction of Eleazar the priest and Joshua to allocate portions of the promised land to each of the twelve tribes according to God's command.

Key Scriptures

"These are the names of the men who shall divide the land among you for inheritance: Eleazar the priest and Joshua the son of Nun. And you shall take one leader of every tribe to divide the land for inheritance" (Numbers 34:17-18, ESV).

"And the leader of the tribe of the sons of Naphtali was Pedahel the son of Ammihud" (Numbers 34:28, ESV).

Application

Pedahel's example demonstrates how God uses faithful leaders to accomplish His purposes; we can trust that He appoints and equips those needed to carry out His will in our lives and communities.
