Omer

The omer was a Hebrew unit of dry measure used in the wilderness to distribute manna fairly among God's people. It demonstrates God's provision and equity in caring for His people.

Overview

An omer was a specific measure of grain or dry goods in ancient Israel. During the wilderness wandering, God provided manna from heaven and instructed the Israelites to gather it by the omer, ensuring each person received an equal daily portion regardless of how much they individually collected. This miraculous provision revealed God's faithfulness and fair distribution of His blessings.

Key Scriptures

"This is what the Lord has commanded: 'Everyone is to gather as much as they need. Take an omer for each person you have in your tents.'" (Exodus 16:16, NIV)

"(An omer is one tenth of an ephah.)" (Exodus 16:36, NIV)
