Overview

Jesse was the father of King David and an ancestor of Jesus Christ. A man of faith and integrity, Jesse raised eight sons, the youngest being David, whom God selected to be Israel's greatest king. His family demonstrates the importance of spiritual leadership within the home and God's faithfulness in preserving a royal line through whom the Messiah would come.

"Jesus said to them, 'Have you never read in the Scriptures: "The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes"?'" (Matthew 21:42, ESV) - referencing the Davidic line from Jesse.
