Heart

The heart in Scripture refers to the center of human will, emotion, and spiritual life—the seat of our deepest convictions and allegiances. God alone knows and searches the human heart completely.

Overview

Throughout Scripture, the heart represents the core of personhood—encompassing mind, will, emotions, and spiritual condition. God's intimate knowledge of our hearts demonstrates His omniscience and sovereignty. The Holy Spirit works transformatively in the human heart, replacing hardness with responsive obedience to God's Word.

Key Scriptures

"O LORD, you have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar" (Psalm 139:1-2, ESV).

"I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh" (Ezekiel 11:19, ESV).

"The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork" (Psalm 139:14, ESV).

Application

Since God knows your heart completely, surrender your deepest thoughts and desires to Christ, trusting His transforming power to reshape your will toward obedience and faith.
