Tadmor

2 scripture references — Nave's Topical Bible

Overview

Tadmor (also known as Palmyra) was a desert city that King Solomon constructed and developed as part of his ambitious building program throughout Israel. Located in the Syrian wilderness between Israel and Mesopotamia, Tadmor served as an important trading hub and military stronghold, helping to secure Solomon's commercial routes and territorial influence during the height of Israel's prosperity and power.

Key Scriptures

"And Baalath and Tadmor in the wilderness, in the land of his domain" (1 Kings 9:18, ESV).

"He also built Tadmor in the wilderness and all the store cities that he built in Hamath" (2 Chronicles 8:4, ESV).

Application

Solomon's construction of Tadmor reminds us that God grants wisdom and resources to establish stability and blessing, but these gifts ultimately depend on maintaining faithfulness to Him rather than accumulating power for its own sake.
