Overview

Shobi son of Nahash, king of the Ammonites, showed remarkable devotion to King David during one of Israel's darkest hours. When David fled Jerusalem due to Absalom's rebellion, Shobi joined forces with other supporters to provide food, bedding, and supplies to sustain David's weary forces as they regrouped.

"When David came to Mahanaim, Shobi son of Nahash from Rabbah of the Ammonites, and Makir son of Ammiel from Lo Debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite from Rogelim brought bedding and bowls and articles of pottery.
