Overview
Sion, also called Mount Hermon, was a significant geographical landmark east of the Jordan River in the region of Moab. It marked the northern boundary of territories conquered by Israel and served as a visible reminder of God's faithfulness in establishing His people in the land He promised to Abraham.
Key Scriptures
"For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of the Rephaim. His bed was made of iron. Is it not in Rabbah of the Ammonites? Nine cubits was its length, and four cubits its breadth, by the common cubit." (Deuteronomy 3:11, ESV)
"From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun shall be your territory." (Joshua 1:4, ESV)
Application
Reflect on how God's establishment of Israel's borders demonstrates His sovereignty and faithfulness to His covenants, encouraging trust in His promises today.
