Ramiah

1 scripture reference — Nave's Topical Bible

Overview

Ramiah is mentioned among the sons of Parosh who had married foreign women during the Babylonian exile. When Ezra discovered this violation of God's law, he called the people to repentance and separation from their foreign wives to restore spiritual purity to the returning community.

Key Scriptures

"Ramiah, Izziah, Malchijah, Mijamin, Eleazar, Malchijah, and Benaiah of the sons of Parosh had married foreign women, and some of them had children by these wives" (Ezra 10:25, ESV).

"Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin assembled at Jerusalem within the three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month. And all the people sat in the open square before the house of God, trembling because of this matter and because of the heavy rain" (Ezra 10:9, ESV).

Application

Ramiah's account challenges believers to consider whether cultural compromises have subtly displaced biblical obedience in their own lives, and to courageously realign with God's standards regardless of personal cost.
