Overview
Pillars were essential architectural elements in biblical times, most notably in the Jerusalem Temple. Solomon's temple featured ornate bronze pillars crafted by Hiram, demonstrating both engineering skill and artistic beauty. Beyond their physical function, pillars became spiritual symbols representing God's strength and the stability of His kingdom.
Key Scriptures
"And the pillars of bronze that were in the house of the Lord, the Canaanites broke in pieces and carried the bronze of them away" (2 Kings 25:13, ESV).
"The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God. Never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God" (Revelation 3:12, ESV).
"Now King Solomon sent and brought Hiram from Tyre... to work in bronze" (1 Kings 7:13-14, ESV) describes the skilled craftsman who created the temple's pillars.
Application
Recognize that God provides the strength and stability we need in our lives, just as pillars support physical structures.
