Narcissus

1 scripture reference — Nave's Topical Bible

Overview

Narcissus appears only once in Scripture as a member of the Roman church. Paul specifically greets "those who belong to the household of Narcissus, who are in the Lord" (Romans 16:11, ESV). This suggests Narcissus was a person of some standing, possibly a wealthy householder whose home served as a gathering place for believers. Though little is known of his personal history, his inclusion in Paul's greetings indicates he was recognized as a faithful member of the early Christian community.

Key Scriptures

"Greet Narcissus and those in the Lord who belong to his household." (Romans 16:11, ESV)

"Greet those who belong to the household of Narcissus, who are in the Lord." (Romans 16:11, NASB)

Application

Like Narcissus, believers today can open their homes and resources to advance God's kingdom and provide hospitality to the church community.
