Overview
Nahshon son of Amminadab served as the prince of the tribe of Judah (Numbers 1:7). He led his tribe during the census in the wilderness and held a prominent position in Israel's camp organization under Moses. Nahshon also made substantial offerings for the dedication of the altar when the tabernacle was consecrated.

"The leader of the people of Judah shall be Nahshon the son of Amminadab" (Numbers 1:7, ESV). "On the first day Nahshon the son of Amminadab, the leader of the people of Judah, made his offering" (Numbers 7:12, ESV). Nahshon appears in the genealogy of Jesus: "Amminadab fathered Nahshon, and Nahshon fathered Salmon" (Matthew 1:4, ESV).
