Majority and Minority Reports

13 scripture references — Nave's Topical Bible

Overview

After Moses sent twelve spies to scout Canaan, they returned with conflicting reports. Ten spies focused on the giants and fortified cities, discouraging the people from entering the promised land. However, Caleb and Joshua presented a minority report, urging faith in God's ability to overcome obstacles regardless of the odds.

Key Scriptures

"And Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, 'Let us go up at once and occupy it, for we are well able to overcome it.'" (Numbers 13:30, ESV)

"Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh tore their clothes and said to the entire Israelite assembly, 'The land we passed through and explored is exceedingly good... The Lord is with us'" (Numbers 14:6-9, NIV)

Application

Believers must align with God's truth even when standing alone against prevailing opinion, trusting His promises over circumstances.
