Kibzaim

0 scripture references — Nave's Topical Bible

Overview

Kibzaim was one of the cities given to the Kohathite Levites in the inheritance of Dan (Joshua 21:22). As a Levitical city, it provided housing for priests who served in God's temple and functioned as a city of refuge where someone who accidentally caused death could flee for protection from the avenger of blood.

Key Scriptures

"The cities assigned to the Kohathite clans of the Levites were: in the territory of Dan, Eltekeh, Gibbethon, Aijalon and Gath Rimmon, together with their pasturelands—four cities" (Joshua 21:20-21, NIV). "And these are the cities designated for all the Israelites and for the aliens residing among them, so that anyone who had killed a person could flee there" (Joshua 35:15, NASB).

Application

Consider how God established cities of refuge to provide mercy and protection for the guilty, reflecting His desire for justice tempered with grace toward the repentant.
