Jattir

0 scripture references — Nave's Topical Bible

Overview

Jattir was one of the cities given to the Levitical priests in Judah (Joshua 21:14). During David's time as a fugitive, he sent a portion of his spoils from defeating the Amalekites to the elders of Jattir, demonstrating his respect for God's appointed ministers even while fleeing from Saul.

Key Scriptures

"And when David and his men came to Ziklag, they found it burned with fire and their wives and sons and daughters taken captive" (1 Samuel 30:3, ESV). "David sent some of the spoil to the elders of Judah, his friends, saying, 'Here is a present for you from the spoil of the enemies of the Lord,' and to those in Jattir" (1 Samuel 30:26-27, ESV).

Application

Believers should honor and support those in ministry, recognizing that providing for God's servants is an act of worship and obedience to Him.
