Jabin

16 scripture references — Nave's Topical Bible

Overview

Jabin, king of Hazor, orchestrated a confederation of northern Canaanite kingdoms to resist Israel's conquest. Despite commanding a vast army with chariots and horses, his forces were utterly defeated at the Waters of Merom through Joshua's strategic leadership and God's direct intervention. This victory secured Israel's control of northern Canaan.

Key Scriptures

"When Jabin king of Hazor heard of this, he sent word to Jobab king of Madon, to the kings of Shimron and Akshaph, and to the northern kings who were in the mountains, the Arabah south of Kinnereth, the western foothills and the heights of Dor on the west" (Joshua 11:1-2, NIV).

"Joshua and all his army came against them suddenly at the Waters of Merom and attacked them, and the Lord gave them into the hand of Israel" (Joshua 11:7-8, ESV).

Application

Trust that God's promises of provision and victory remain certain regardless of how overwhelming opposition may appear.
