Feasts

30 scripture references across 3 subtopics — Nave's Topical Bible

Overview

Biblical feasts were significant social and spiritual occasions where people gathered to celebrate covenants, mark important events, and enjoy God's provision. From Isaac's feast with Abimelech to the parable of the wedding banquet, Scripture reveals how feasts embodied hospitality and fellowship. Yet feasts also exposed human sinfulness, as seen in Belshazzar's proud celebration before judgment.

Key Scriptures

"Then Isaac made a feast, and they ate and drank" (Genesis 26:30, ESV). "King Belshazzar held a great feast for a thousand of his nobles" (Daniel 5:1, ESV). "And Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son'" (Matthew 22:1-2, ESV).

Application

When celebrating with others, examine your heart to ensure gatherings honor God rather than serve selfish pride or excess.
