Overview
In Genesis 3, Satan tempted Eve to doubt God's word and eat from the forbidden tree, leading Adam to do the same. Their disobedience brought spiritual death, shame, and separation from God into the world. This single act of rebellion corrupted human nature, making all people inherently sinful and unable to please God through their own efforts.
Key Scriptures
"As it is written: 'None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one'" (Romans 3:10-12, ESV).
"For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot" (Romans 8:6-7, ESV).
Application
Recognizing your fallen nature drives you to Christ alone for salvation and sanctification, as no personal effort can remedy sin's grip without His redemptive work.
