Overview
Christ's return is a foundational Christian hope affirmed throughout Scripture. Jesus will physically and visibly return to earth to complete redemption, judge all humanity, and reign eternally. This event marks the end of human history as we know it and the beginning of eternity with God.
Key Scriptures
"For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first." (1 Thessalonians 4:16, NIV)
"Jesus said to them, 'Truly I say to you, that you who have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on His glorious throne, you also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.'" (Matthew 19:28, NASB)
"Now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known." (1 Corinthians 13:12, NIV)
Application
Living with anticipation of Christ's return should motivate holy living, faithful witness, and priority of eternal values over temporal concerns.
