Why does God allow suffering?

Suffering entered the world through human sin and rebellion (Genesis 3). God allows suffering to discipline His children for holiness, to display His sustaining power, to draw people to repentance, and to accomplish purposes we cannot see. In Christ, God entered our suffering and promises to redeem all pain for good to those who love Him.
