Uzziel

Uzziel was a Levite name borne by several men in Israel's history, most notably a son of Kohath who helped establish the priestly service in the tabernacle.

Overview

Uzziel appears multiple times in Scripture as the name of Levites who served in various capacities within Israel's religious life. The most prominent was Uzziel, son of Kohath and brother of Amram (Moses' father), whose descendants formed an important division of the Levitical priesthood responsible for maintaining the tabernacle.

Key Scriptures

"The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel" (Exodus 6:18, ESV). "Mishael and Elzaphan the sons of Uzziel took up the bodies of Nadab and Abihu and carried them in their coats out of the camp" (Leviticus 10:4, ESV). "And Hezekiah appointed the Levites in the house of the Lord with cymbals, harps, and lyres, according to the commandment of David and of Gad the king's seer and of Nathan the prophet" (2 Chronicles 29:14, ESV).

Application

The faithfulness of the Uzzielites in their priestly duties reminds believers that all service rendered to God, however seemingly routine, holds eternal significance and honors His name.
