Overview
Trophimus was a Gentile Christian from Ephesus who traveled with Paul during his missionary journeys. He accompanied Paul to Jerusalem, where his presence in the city sparked a dangerous misunderstanding that led to Paul's arrest and imprisonment. Though a faithful believer, Trophimus became an unwitting catalyst for persecution against the apostle.

"Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy, and Tychicus and Trophimus from Asia" (Acts 20:4, ESV). "But when the seven days were almost completed, the Jews from Asia, seeing him in the temple, stirred up the whole crowd and laid hands on him, crying out, 'Men of Israel, help! "For they had previously seen Trophimus the Ephesian with him in the city, and they supposed that Paul had brought him into the temple" (Acts 21:29, ESV).
Application
Believers should recognize that our godly associations may sometimes be misunderstood by others, yet we must remain faithful to Christ and trust God's sovereign purposes even through unjust opposition.
