Overview
In Scripture, a roll (or scroll) was the primary method of recording and preserving written documents before the invention of bound books. These rolls were made from papyrus or parchment and were rolled around wooden dowels for storage and transportation. The roll served as the vehicle through which God's Word was transmitted and preserved for future generations.
