Overview
Michmethah was a boundary point marking the division between the territories of Ephraim and Manasseh. Located in the central region of Canaan, it helped establish the borders of the Promised Land as the tribes settled in their inherited portions following Joshua's conquest.

"And the boundary of the children of Ephraim according to their families was thus: the border of their inheritance on the east was Ataroth-addar as far as Upper Beth-horon. And the border extended from there to the sea" (Joshua 16:5-6, ESV).
