Melchishua

Melchishua was a son of King Saul of Israel who died alongside his father and brothers in battle against the Philistines.

Overview

Melchishua was one of the sons of King Saul, Israel's first king. He is mentioned in genealogical records and historical accounts of Saul's reign and death. Like his father and brothers, Melchishua perished in the battle against the Philistines at Mount Gilboa, marking the tragic end of Saul's dynasty.

Key Scriptures

"Now Saul had three sons: Jonathan, Ishui, and Malchi-shua" (1 Samuel 14:49, ESV). "So Saul, his three sons, his armor-bearer, and all his men died together on the same day" (1 Samuel 31:6, NIV). "The sons of Saul were Jonathan, Ishui, and Malchi-shua; and the names of his two daughters were Merab the firstborn and Michal the younger" (1 Chronicles 8:33, NASB).

Application

Melchishua's account reminds us that sin has generational consequences, as Saul's disobedience to God ultimately brought judgment upon his entire household.
