Overview
Joab served as commander of David's army and held significant influence in the kingdom. When King David commanded a census of Israel's fighting men, Joab objected, recognizing the act as sinful and displeasing to God. Despite his protest, Joab obeyed the king's command and conducted the census, resulting in severe judgment upon the nation.
