The return of Christ (often called the Second Coming or Parousia) is Jesus's promised future arrival to judge the living and the dead and establish His eternal kingdom. This central Christian hope motivates believers to live faithfully and proclaim the Gospel.

Overview

Jesus promised His disciples that He would return to earth (John 14:3). This event will involve the resurrection of believers, the final judgment of all humanity, and the establishment of God's eternal kingdom. The timing remains known only to God the Father (Matthew 24:36).

Key Scriptures

"Now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known" (1 Corinthians 13:12, NIV).

"For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first" (1 Thessalonians 4:16, NIV).

"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come" (Matthew 24:42, NIV).

Application

Live in readiness and holiness, using your gifts to advance God's kingdom while awaiting Christ's return.
