Overview
Hamor was a Hivite ruler whose son Shechem violated Dinah, Jacob's daughter. Rather than face Jacob's righteous anger, Hamor attempted to resolve the matter through deception and intermarriage, proposing that his people and Jacob's family become one through marriage and commerce. His cunning plan masked darker intentions to exploit Jacob's wealth.
