Overview
In Jeremiah 13, God instructed the prophet to purchase a linen belt, wear it, and then hide it by the Euphrates River. After many days, Jeremiah retrieved the belt, finding it ruined and useless. This symbolic action demonstrated how God would ruin the pride of Judah and Jerusalem, just as the belt was spoiled by moisture and decay.
