PINE. Isa 41:19; Isa 60:13. This is mentioned as a tree of Lebanon. The root of the original word denotes "curvature" or "duration," neither of which meanings suits the pine. Tristram suggests the elm, a species of which grows upon Lebanon, and Gesenius the oak, but the proper translation is very doubtful.
