ABSALOM'S PLACE, or PILLAR, was in the "king's dale," or valley of the Kedron. 2 Sam 18:8. "The Tomb of Absalom," now standing east of Jerusalem, at the foot of Mount Olivet, is supposed by the Jews to be the one erected by Absalom during his lifetime, and is pelted by them with stones, as they pass by, in ACC ACH execration of his treason; but the monument betrays Grajco-Latin architecture Absalom's Tomb. (From original Photographs. ) (especially the Ionic columns), and is not mentioned before A. D. 333.
