Multiple figures share this name. The most significant is Berechiah (also spelled Berachiah), father of the post-exilic prophet Zechariah. Jesus references "Zechariah son of Berechiah" whom they murdered between the temple and the altar (likely referring to a later martyrdom not recorded in the Old Testament). Another Berechiah was a Levite who helped transport the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem. A third Berechiah was a gatekeeper who returned with Ezra and signed Nehemiah's covenant.
