Abijah

A king of Judah (also known as Abijam) who reigned for three years and was known for his war against Jeroboam of Israel.

The son of Rehoboam, Abijah inherited the divided kingdom. While he walked in the sins of his father and was not fully devoted to God, he did rely on Yahweh in battle against the northern kingdom. Standing on Mount Zemaraim, he argued that the Davidic line was the true priesthood and lineage. Despite being outnumbered two-to-one, Judah won the battle because they “relied upon the Lord.”
