Shen

Shen (stone) in Scripture often serves as a memorial marker of God's faithfulness and intervention. The most notable biblical example is Samuel's Ebenezer stone, which commemorated Israel's deliverance by the Lord.

Overview

In biblical narrative, stones frequently function as physical reminders of God's covenant promises and mighty acts. These memorial stones helped God's people remember His faithfulness across generations and served as teaching tools for future believers.

Key Scriptures

"Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen, and called its name Ebenezer; for he said, 'Thus far the Lord has helped us.'" (1 Samuel 7:12, ESV)

"When your children ask their fathers in time to come, 'What do these stones mean?' then you shall let your children know, 'Israel passed over this Jordan on dry ground.'" (Joshua 4:21-22, NASB)

Application

Like the Israelites, believers today should intentionally remember and testify to God's past deliverances, building faith for present challenges and inspiring future generations with accounts of His faithfulness.
