Overview
Shelesh appears in the genealogical listing of the tribe of Asher, recorded during the chronicler's documentation of Israel's tribal ancestry. He was the son of Japhlet, whose family line is traced through the descendants of Asher, one of Jacob's twelve sons.
Key Scriptures
"The sons of Japhlet: Pasach, Bimhal, and Ashvath. These are the sons of Japhlet. The sons of Shomer: Ahi, Rohgah, Hubbah, and Aram. The sons of his brother Helem: Zophah, Imna, Shelesh, and Anim." (1 Chronicles 7:33-34, ESV)
Application
While Shelesh is mentioned only briefly in Scripture, his inclusion in the genealogical record reminds us that God knows and values every member of His people, whether prominent in Scripture or not.
