Sheet of Peter's Vision

Peter's vision of a sheet descending from heaven, containing clean and unclean animals, signified God's plan to include Gentiles in His kingdom of grace. This pivotal moment broke down Jewish ceremonial boundaries and launched the gospel to all nations.

Overview

In Acts 10, Peter received a supernatural vision while in prayer on a rooftop in Joppa. A sheet descended from heaven filled with animals, reptiles, and birds—both clean and unclean according to Jewish law. Three times Peter heard a voice commanding him to kill and eat, yet he refused, claiming he had never eaten anything unclean. This vision prepared Peter to accept the invitation to visit Cornelius, a Roman centurion, and marked a turning point in the early church's understanding of the gospel's universal scope.
