Shalem appears in Genesis 33:18 as the location where Jacob arrived safely after his transformative encounter with God at Peniel. This settlement marked an important milestone in Jacob's pilgrimage, as he transitioned from being a fugitive to becoming established in the Promised Land with his household and possessions intact.
