Sethur

Sethur was one of the twelve spies sent by Moses to scout the land of Canaan before Israel's conquest. He represented the tribe of Asher in this crucial reconnaissance mission.

Overview

Sethur son of Michael was chosen as one of twelve tribal representatives to spy out the promised land of Canaan. This mission, recorded in Numbers 13, was pivotal in Israel's wilderness journey and would ultimately test the nation's faith in God's promises.

Key Scriptures

"These were the names of the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Hoshea the son of Nun Joshua. When Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, he said to them, 'Go up into the Negev and go up into the hill country, and see what the land is; and whether the people who dwell in it are strong or weak, whether they are few or many'" (Numbers 13:16-18, ESV).

"Sethur the son of Michael, from the tribe of Asher" (Numbers 13:13, NASB).

Application

Sethur's role reminds us that God calls ordinary believers to participate in His redemptive purposes, and our faithfulness in small assignments matters in advancing His kingdom.
