Overview
Sered was one of the sons of Zebulun, the tenth son of Jacob and Leah. He is mentioned in the genealogical records of Israel as the founder of the Seredite clan. Though little is known about Sered personally, his name appears in the tribal genealogies that document the family structures of ancient Israel.
Key Scriptures
"The sons of Zebulun according to their clans: of Sered, the clan of the Seredites" (Numbers 26:26, ESV). "And the sons of Zebulun: Sered, Elon, and Jahleel" (Genesis 46:14, ESV).
Application
Sered reminds us that God's people are organized within families and communities, and even names recorded in genealogies reflect God's sovereign ordering of His people throughout history.
