Sabtecha

Sabtecha was a son of Cush and a descendant of Ham, listed among the early post-Flood nations. He represents one of the ancient peoples whose genealogy is recorded in Scripture to trace human dispersion after the Flood.

Overview

Sabtecha (also spelled Sabta) was one of the sons of Cush, the grandson of Ham and great-grandson of Noah. He is mentioned in the Table of Nations, which documents the early dispersion of humanity after the Flood. Though Scripture provides his genealogical placement, little else is revealed about him or his descendants.

Key Scriptures

"The sons of Cush were Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca" (Genesis 10:7, ESV).

"The sons of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabta, Raamah, and Sabteca" (1 Chronicles 1:9, ESV).

Application

The genealogies of Genesis and Chronicles remind us that God cares about and preserves the history of all nations, demonstrating His sovereignty over humanity's development and dispersion throughout the earth.
