Timaeus

Timaeus was the father of Bartimaeus, a blind beggar whom Jesus healed near Jericho, demonstrating Christ's compassion and power over physical affliction.

Overview

Timaeus appears in Scripture as the father of Bartimaeus (meaning 'son of Timaeus'), a blind man who sat begging by the roadside in Jericho. When Jesus passed by, Bartimaeus cried out for mercy, and despite the crowd's attempts to silence him, Jesus stopped and restored his sight, commending his faith.

Key Scriptures

'They came to Jericho. And as Jesus and his disciples and a large crowd were leaving Jericho, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the roadside' (Mark 10:46, ESV).

'And Jesus said to him, "Go your way; your faith has made you well." And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him on the way' (Mark 10:52, ESV).

Application

Like Bartimaeus, we should persistently cry out to Jesus in faith, trusting that He hears us and desires to restore what sin and brokenness have damaged in our lives.
